Advent is what we call the season leading up to Christmas. The word literally means "the arrival of a notable person, thing, or event." Advent is a time of preparation, celebrated each year during the weeks leading up to December 25. It's a time during which we anticipate the fulfillment of God's promise that he would provide a way for us to come back to him: Jesus. The King of Kings, born in utter poverty. Fully God, in the humble flesh of a man. The Light of the World, come to pierce the darkness.  Jesus testifies to his identity and purpose in John 8:12. I am the light of the world, he says.Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.

Let there be light

During the next 4 weeks, we are going on a journey in 4 acts: Candlelight, Nightlight, Starlight, and Spotlight (our Christmas Sunday).

  • Follow each week as members of our community share words, sights, and sounds of light here on the website.
  • Refresh your spirit, soul, and mind by stealing away from the busyness of life to seek God's presence and listen for his voice.
  • Respond with what God is speaking to you  about each week's theme by posting on social media and using our series hashtag: #edgeadvent2015.
