Joelle McNamara is a missionary called to bring heaven to earth by reaching lonely and overlooked people and leading them into the fullness of life that God created them for.
Badala, the non-profit ministry she founded at age 17, does business as mission, offering employment and educational opportunities to widows and orphans in East Africa and Central America. To date, Badala has given the gift of employment (either short-term or ongoing) to over 100 women in East Africa and projects to employ 14+ people in Central America this year.
Through Badala, Joelle has given these precious sons and daughters of God a space to heal from past trauma (sexual assault and abuse, physical abuse, abandonment, FGM, and loss of a spouse), be discipled, explore the gifts that God has given them, and have life to the full in Christ.
Additionally, Badala provides its employees with business training and has helped them launch their own small businesses, providing even more jobs to the poor in their communities, and giving even more alternatives to abuse, homelessness, prostitution, and sexual slavery.
What you can do
Our heart at The Edge is to support and empower men and women in the mission field—to help enable them to do all that God has called them to do. There are several ways you can specifically support Joelle:
Pray for Joelle
- That Joelle would personally continue to fall deeper and more intimately in love with Jesus
- Adequate funding
- Continued favor with customers, partners, donors, etc.
- Wisdom and discernment in leadership
- For the women (and now a few men) to be fully transformed by the renewing of their minds, putting to death the poverty mentality and its grip in their lives, and putting on their true identity as a son or daughter of God
